Friends, when we consistently put off until tomorrow what we could do today, we may be motivated by a deep need to be in control or we simply are afraid of the outcome of timely action.
Far too many of us had rocky beginnings and picked up bad habits without which we would not have survived. We could not be in control of who loved us or how well they took care of us etc, so we had to find a way to BE IN CONTROL of something. "They want me to move fast, but I'm going to do this my way!"
Even when those survival habits like being last minute or always late cease to serve us well, we do it anyhow. Bad habits are hard to break, right?
Then too, we put off acting in a timely fashion because we have learned to fear the outcome. We put off going to the doctor or telling so and so the truth because we want to avoid the drama, the trauma, the rejection. Hmmmh!
The outstanding news is that if we ask Him and obey what He says, the Lord will teach us to number our days. God will teach us to wisely count every moment and make every moment count. '
