Do You Need to Be Trained To Make Righteous Judgments?

The Apostle Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 6:2 that eventually we will be called upon to judge the world. In this earthly phase of our eternal lives we are being trained for such a time. Does anybody besides me need the training? John (7:24) cautions us to "judge not according to appearance but judge righteous judgment." In a nutshell we have to line up with the Lord's assessment of the person or situation. One of the most profound teachings in the ministry of Pastor Jean Ferguson was a simple directive to "ask the Lord to show you the heart of a person." Now doesn't that totally line up with 1 Samuel 16:7? I have since learned that when I am in the midst of judging or assessing or sizing up a person, I often have to ask the Lord to show me my own heart. My soul experiences reside in my heart and they will blindside my judgment every time UNLESS I seek the Lord and allow Him to lead me into the whole truth of the matter. We have to take the promises of God personally and stand on them. John 16:13 makes God's promise in this situation real plain. John 16:13 New King James Version (NKJV) 13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.
As this blessed Christmas season approaches, I don't want to be wrapped or tied up in a bitter root, holding onto a bunch of unforgiveness for someone I misjudged. Selah...pause and think about it. I don't know about you but I want to be in right standing with God on every front. How about you?
